What this site is

An informational and marketing website about the EU Battery Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, and the digital battery passport. It publishes guides, explainers and reference material, and it lets you contact us.

It is not a compliance tool. Nothing on this site issues, validates, stores or files a battery passport.

The regulatory information published here — read this part

This is the most important limitation on the site and we would rather state it directly than bury it.

Nothing on this site is legal advice. We publish an orientation to a body of law, not a legal opinion on your circumstances. Whether a specific battery you place on the EU market falls within a specific obligation is a question for your own legal advisers.

The law described here is live and incomplete. Several delegated and implementing acts required by Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 have not been adopted, and at least one application date has already been postponed by two years. Dates described as conditional are conditional. Acts described as overdue are overdue.

Verify against the primary source. Every regulatory claim on this site carries a CELEX number, an article reference or an EUR-Lex link precisely so you can check it. The authoritative text is the one published in the Official Journal of the European Union, in the consolidated version current at the time you read it — not our summary of it.

We are not affiliated with the European Commission, CEN, CENELEC, any Member State authority, or any standards body. We do not speak for them and our reading of an instrument is not their reading of it.

We update, but we do not guarantee currency. Content is dated. A page correct on its publication date may have been overtaken by an act adopted since.

Acceptable use

You may read, quote and link to this site. When you quote it, please attribute and link back.

You may not:

• use the site in any way that breaks the law or infringes anyone's rights;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers or any connected system;
• interfere with the site's operation, including by automated request volume that degrades it for others;
• use the contact form to send unsolicited commercial messages, malware, or abusive content;
• scrape the site at a rate or scale that burdens the infrastructure, or circumvent the rate limiting on the contact form;

Standards references (EN 18216, EN 18219 and the rest of the CEN/CLC/JTC 24 family) are the property of CEN-CENELEC and their national members; we cite their numbers and published titles, and we do not reproduce their content.

Short quotations for the purposes of criticism, review, reporting or teaching are welcome under the usual exceptions, with attribution.

Links to other sites

We link out to EUR-Lex, the European Commission, CEN-CENELEC and other third-party sources. Those sites are not under our control. We link to them because they are the primary source, but we are not responsible for their content or availability.

Availability

We aim to keep the site available but we do not promise it. It may be unavailable for maintenance, for reasons outside our control, or because we have changed or removed content. We may modify or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

The contact form

Do not send confidential, commercially sensitive or special-category personal data through the contact form. It is delivered as an ordinary email. Submitting the form does not create any contract, engagement or duty on our part beyond what is described in the privacy policy. We may decline to respond.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version on this page at the time you use the site is the version that applies, and the date below tells you when it last changed. Material changes will be reflected in that date.

Governing law
